One in every five children in the US have learning differences, yet only a fraction of these students are getting the help they need. The early detection of developmental delays is key to getting the interventions this special segment of our school population really needs. We need to do all we can in this area because every child in our schools is “fearfully and wonderfully made” for God’s purposes (Psalm 139:14; Eph. 2:10). This workshop will explore how our youngest population can be supported and how they can get the help they need. Topics for discussion include: • What is meant by learning differences. • Common delays we see at the earliest ages. • Processes for identification of possible learning differences. • A few practical ideas for intervention and meeting needs.
By the end of this session, you will be able to identify and recognize early warning signs of potential learning struggles. You’ll also be equipped to apply the process for identifying learning differences and use interventions that meet the unique needs of your students in the classroom.
