PD by Design: A Turnkey Offering for In-House Professional Development Events

A digital professional development offering for teachers on the theme of Interweaving Learning. With 6 CEUs worth of rich content from an expert in this theme, ACSI  PD by Design allows administrators flexibility in hosting their own in-house PD on a schedule that works best for their staff. ACSI PD by Design provides access to affordable, high quality professional development for teachers so they can grow in their profession, acquire CEUs, and advance Christ-centered education with excellence.  

What’s included:

  • A Facilitator Guide for a representative from the school to utilize in setting the agenda and in guiding discussion with their staff 
  • Suggested schedule that includes 6 hours of content/engagement 
  • 6 Educational CEUs (6 clock hours) of engaging professional development for all participants

Objective, Speaker and Session Details

As with any art form, utilizing a set of unassuming yet effective tools is vital to refining and mastering the craft of teaching. In this training, Karrie Edwards has compiled practical, simple techniques that yield high levels of student motivation and a classroom culture of respect and value. This offering is informed by the construct Behaviors for Learning in the Flourishing School Culture Model (FSCM). New and seasoned educators alike can benefit from a fresh set of functional tools as they guide students toward positive learning behaviors and achievement.  

Learning Objectives for this offering: 

  • The participant will identify classroom dynamics that guide students toward positive behaviors for learning. 
  • The participant will develop a plan to increase student engagement by utilizing applicable and practical techniques. 
  • The participant will reconstruct a lesson that implements techniques to improve the classroom experience and increase student achievement. 
  • The participant will define keystone techniques that will become classroom and schoolwide norms.     

Karrie Edwards, Master Teacher 

Karrie Edwards has earned a Master in the Art of Teaching (MAT) degree and a Master in Educational Administration (M.Ed), which have helped her develop expertise in planning, preparing, and creating lessons and training that engage learners. Karrie has been a classroom teacher for over 20 years. She has previously served as Textbook Training Coordinator for Purposeful Design Publications (PDP). Karrie currently teaches middle school Science in Michigan. Karrie’s passion is developing relationships with her students and discovering their individual learning styles. When she sees the improvement they make over the course of a school year, Karrie is encouraged to continue honing her craft as a master teacher.
